When it comes to music, Wyndell Long is a fiend. In his personal life his tastes range from alternative to hip hop to techno to string quartet. Variety is the name of the game. This variety heavily influenced him in his own productions, which also span a wide variety. In fact there was a period of time when Wyndell didn’t do techno or house music, because he thought it was dead (early 90’s) to which he was doing a lot of rap beats and started dabbling with euro dance songs. All that changed when he got a crate of techno records to hold for a weekend from a friend of his who had signed with a famous label in the Netherlands. That changed his focus, and he devoted all of his creativity to the music that had amazed him as a teen in the 80’s. Ah, the Chicago house movement of the 80’s. He bore witness to the Chicago house music movement that started this whole thing. He and his friends would have the radio on 102.7 FM WBMX in Chicago for their hot lunch mixes and full hot mix 5 late night sets. The Chicago house music movement was a monster for years. Then it faded away, mostly due to bad business. The music caught the curiosity of people overseas seeking something new, and with that it opened new outlets for techno and house artists like Wyndell here in the states.

Wyndell had even sold some of his euro dance instrumentals and urban instrumentals to Armando Gallup (Chicago legend, R.I.P.) and Larry Sherman (of TRAX records). It was after meeting K-Alexi, who worked at TRAX that he got on the techno and house bus and started to do underground productions. Not too long after that he got that crate of records that was mentioned before and began to develop a sound that was a mixture of all the things he loved about Chicago house. Before the music went to Europe, everything with a 4/4 beat was just house. Acid, ghetto, disco, deep house. All of it was just house music and you would hear all these sounds in a DJ set and nothing sound out of place. The sound Wyndell (that's me!) was going for was a hard yet funky mixture of this kind of mindset with classic and current Chicago drums along with obscure samples and mad filtering and layering. After getting the craft together, Wyndell started making demos and mailed them out like a mad man on cassette tapes (and yes, later on CD’s). He first got response from a label in the UK a acquaintance he met at Trax records told him was looking for that ‘Chicago sound’, and then another label in the UK which was quite primitive, and then before you know he had regular releases coming out. This also led to remixes, which he has done for Mike Dearborn and Armando Gallup. He has also DJ’d in some of the great underground venues in the world as well such as Fuse, Technoir and JH Spiraal (Belgium). He’s also played in other countries like France, Netherlands and legendary places like the Zukunft Club (Zurich, Switzerland) and many raves. He continues to support the techno and house scene with regular podcasts on some of the top notch techno hubs online as well as his own exclusive mix series. Visit his website to get up to date. Wyndell also still releases EP’s with some of the great underground labels out there like Mona Recordings and MK Recordings. While is sound is somewhat updated for the times he hasn’t lost the love he has for that raw Chicago sound.

He is a true Chicago techno and house artist with some of the best labels in the world like Peace Frog, ProJEx, Primate, Djax, Reel Musiq, Subspace, Majesty, Elypsia, R&S and more in his discography. His tracks have been played by some of the biggest names in the business as well (Dave Clarke, Derrick May, DJ Sneak, Claude Young, Fumiya Tanaka and many more), and appear regularly in DJ sets all over the world. Wyndell continues to bring that real stuff to the table when it comes to his techno and house music productions and DJ mixes, and will continue to do so for many years to come!

Well that's enough self blah blah......

Please enjoy your stay at my site.
